    Heather Tierney, the Butcher's Daughter founder behind the concept, designed the space around a sunken courtyard, a 20-foot Cypress wood bar, limestone walls, reclaimed wood decking, and a live oak. The aesthetic borrows from Japanese jazz kissas and Old World Mediterranean alleyways, which sounds insufferable on paper and looks gorgeous in person.

    The wine program is run by Kate Harrington (formerly of Emmer & Rye and Oseyo), with bottles from small producers in Italy, Serbia, and the Texas Hill Country. Cocktails come from DrinkWell's Jessica Sanders and The Treasury's Antonio Matta.     Aperí at The Loren (South Congress)

    The new Loren Hotel on South Congress brought Aperí with it, a small retail wine and charcuterie shop with a built-for-loitering patio. The list runs about 40 bottles, charcuterie boards are made to order, and you can drink on site or take everything to go. It's the kind of place that feels effortless when you have a guest in town and don't want to commit to a full dinner reservation.

    The Loren itself is a real signal. Bringing a luxury hotel brand of this tier to South Congress changes the long-term trajectory of the corridor, with predictable follow-on effects for nearby property values.

    Bar Hacienda (Rainey Street)

    Rainey Street keeps adding cocktail bars and Bar Hacienda is the most disciplined of the recent batch. Tropical-leaning without being gimmicky. Try the Hacienda Highball (mezcal, toasted coconut, clarified citrus, soda) and the room makes sense quickly. The patio sits in the middle of the Rainey scene without feeling overrun by it.

    Taking over the former Zoé Tong space on the strip leading into Zilker Park, Oria comes from the Space Cowboy team. The food is Southern European meeting Eastern Mediterranean.     Rosewood Social Club (East Austin)

    Rosewood Social Club opened in the old Saddle Up and Micklethwait space on Rosewood Avenue.
